Crocs Are Like Hawaii

If that didn't make sense, let me explain:

Everyone always raves about Hawaii, right? So, years ago in my teenage perverseness or whatever, I decided "Who cares about Hawaii?" How great could it be? Sure, pictures I'd seen showed a pretty piece of the earth, but there are lots of those. So I never had a desire to go to Hawaii, and I never understood why it was such a big deal.....Until I actually went there. I hated to jump on the bandwagon, but I couldn't help it. Hawaii was gorgeous and fun and relaxing and one of the most beautiful places I've still ever seen (granted, I haven't seen TOO many places, but I'd still wager it's one of the prettiest).

So then Crocs. Crocs are a fairly recent rage in the shoe industry. Everybody has been babbling about how great Crocs are, how comfortable, how their kids just have to have them. So I didn't feel any interest really in getting the shoe that everyone else is wearing, though I was curious what made them so great. They looked like they had the potential to be comfortable, alright, but having the latest fad didn't appeal to me so much....until I actually wore them. While I was in Colorado a few weeks ago, I saw that my friend had some so I just had to see what the big deal was. And they are so comfortable!! Way more so than I expected. So that Croc bandwagon going by? You'll see me on it. (And my friend also convinced me to try Dansko shoes---I'm a convert, even though they're on the spendy side. My feet used to always hurt, no matter what shoe I got. Now, thanks to my friend and her pointing me in the direction of Crocs and Dansko, my feet feel good for the first time in ages.)

So in case you still don't see how Crocs are like Hawaii, let me just tell ya: they're both worthy of all the hype.

I suppose we have to experience something before we appreciate its significance?

haven't tried crocs yet (haven't gotten past the colorful plastic-look). but i've been wearing dansko for years for casual wear and if i'm walking a lot. they are pricey but i think they're worth it. in fact, i think a lot of doctors and nurses wear them, given that they're on their feet so much. they've gotten a *little* better in the looks department than the 2 versions they used to come in. (not that i'm vain about my shoes or anything like that! :))

and you're right about hawaii. i like how you connected these 2 unrelated ideas into your analogy -- may just have to try crocs because of that...

I can't vouch for Crocs or Dansko but I can personally agree with the Hawaii rating!

amen, sister!! We are a Croc family. I'm almost embarassed when we go out and ALL of us have Crocs on. It's on my 'CON' list for moving to Minnesota -- we'd only be able to wear Crocs in the summer!! :(

As for Dansko and expensive shoes in general, I realized this awhile ago... Payless = hurting feet. Clarks are also a great "feel good" shoe.

When are we going to Hawaii in our Crocs??

PS. What color did you get? Mine are purple. Sorry for the visual image, si!!

These are important decisions in life and I'm glad I was able to contribute in some small way... I think, hence, you should take me to Hawaii.

I want some Dansko's too, and I have to also recommend Keen's. I bought a pair the night before I went on vacation, and wore them straight thru, nary a blister or breaking in. They're the most comfy shoes I own right now, and I intend on looking for a more winter-worthy pair.

Totally agree on the Danskos... I actually only own Danskos... dress and casual. I wore them for teaching and got hooked. I also like the Crocs on kids--Reese has a generic pair--can't bear the price tag for a kids pair of real ones.

Bought myself and my daughter some "Crocs", endedup taking them back for a refund! They make your feet sweat, and in our 90dg temperatures, that's virtually all year round!

well, I haven't noticed my feet sweating for sure, but it's definitely not summer here so I'll have to check for that in a few months....

and they aren't plastic---more of a soft rubber, maybe? I don't know but they're sure comfy.

and crocs in hawaii--sounds good to me!! let's go, lisa and amy!

glad to get the Keen's recommendation. I'll have to check them out sometime. Have you seen those Earth shoes? Created by someone really into yoga and they apparently help you keep a straight spine, etc., etc. Very strange shoes (you feel like you're tilting backward whem you first put them on), but they're supposed to be really comfortable.

Wow, you did it. The two things most loved by me in the natural world, shoes and tropical islands. All in one post. Jay Are is a wonder.

Loving the shoe conversation and I've gotta join!!! I love Danscos and have three pairs that I wear all winter long. I don't own a pair of Crocs but my Mom and sisters own multiple pairs and my Mom-in-law just bought a pair too! The earth shoes I've only tried on (and they are a little weird with the whole tipping feeling), but my sis-in-law has a pair and she loves them! This coming from a 7 month pregnant woman! I don't remember loving any shoes at that point!!! Don't you just love comfy shoes!

I DO, now that I finally have some! And have you seen the Dansko shoe with the flowers on it?? Can't wait to get those--I figure I'll need a summer Dansko and a winter Dansko (and year-round crocs). Hah!

Just noticed yesterday in my favorite "croc" store that they are making Crocs now without the holes (they look the same otherwise) -- I guess for winter! They have some subdued colors, too, like navy blue. Oh to be a millionaire....

I have an idea. How about next time everyone is jumping on the bandwagon, you could assume the best of us and figure we know something you don't!!!!!! That way, you won't have to wait so long for all of the great benefits!! :) sound good? Look into my eyes and come shopping with me.......

*news flash*! i did try on crocs -- you're so right -- extremely comfy. didn't buy any yet. (i still have to get over the colorful clogginess of them.) maybe when the weather's more springy -- they seem more like warm-weather attire.

btw, the salesman told me that one can accessorize the holes with little "buttons" (didn't see any) to personalize the crocs. not so sure about that...
