It takes a spot of courage to stand up tall and a bit of derring-do to rise when you fall

Sputter Sputter Fizzle Pfffttt

That's the sound of my life, I think. I read all these other blogs and people are doing so many things! They, like, have a life! And sometimes an exciting life. There's nothing wrong with my life. I'm not saying that at all. But seriously, folks, I've got to spice things up somehow. I mean, it's to the point where I have to check my pulse now and then just to make sure I'm still here and all. Laundry, cleaning, some more laundry. Running errands, cleaning, playing some scrabble (too much), an occasional good book. Laundry. Get the picture?

And it's my own stupid fault. Time to kick myself in the hinderparts and get the zip back into things. Have a plan! Have a goal! Get a-goin'! Else when am I ever going to have something to blog about again?? Tell me that.

Not to project my own angst onto you, but I think there's a whole bunch of us at a really interesting moment in our lives. I don't want to use the dreaded phrase (mid-life crisis--nooo!!) because it's a bit too pat Still, we're at a peculiar place: just doing our thing, but realizing that there are so many other things we could do. But can't now. Or realizing how short life is, and how much of it is made up of ordinariness.

Here's hoping something kicks in for you. (I tell you what, even taking guitar lessons has been a huge and cool endeavor for me!)

Saw a quote on zazazu's blog the other day:

Stop questioning whether you are in the game, and start deciding how you want to play it!

I thought that was good.

Maybe you should read The Secret - haha!! it's the latest rage. (Actually, I don't think it says anything new, but it might be mildly inspiring)

Ever consider that other people might be just making stuff up?? haha.

I recommend bank robbery.
It's interesting, it's fun, it's exciting, and it has a payoff at the end.
Just don't blog about too many details...

Whatever you do, don't stop blogging!! I agree with prrrof, I think now's a good time to take up something and have a goal and a few appointments in the week that are only for you. A book club (or start one) or a volunteering position, etc., just something that is different than errands and leftovers. The longer I stay at home the more you have amazed me, I must say. This ain't easy, but not because it's hard. KnowwhutImean?

With the perspective of an empty-nester, I can say that remembering those years of raising kids (although, true, full of drudgery and boring routines, and most of the time, way too hectic) it seems like they were pretty exciting, happy and busy years! And even if you think you aren't doing anything important or useful, remember that just being there for your kids is worth more than you know. The rewards will come.... I've heard many parents realize that the old stand-by of "I'll go back to work when my kids are in school.." should almost be the opposite. When they are teenagers, it's pretty important to be around the house when they get home from school! (I probably got a little off-topic here..)
Had to laugh (and slightly agree?!) at lisa's comment about people making things up. :)

:) thanks for the encouragement, one and all. Sometimes the routine gets monotonous but I still prefer that over something serious to have to deal with.
and I think bank robbery is something to look into.

OK I know you're venting more than looking for suggestions, and this is geeky in the extreme*, but: I think you should go play at a scrabble club! There are three in the Bay Area, at least.

*but no geekier than playing it online all the time, heh. As a fellow scrabbler I can call you names, I feel.

I know I'm gonna fail this word verification - I think it's in Cyrillic or something. I can't even read it!
