Bathing suits in January? It’s the retailers’ mindset. In July or August, if I decide I want to purchase shorts or bathing trunks, I will have a hard time finding either because the shelves and racks will be stocked with winter coats and sweaters.
Because. The retailers want me to lose my mind. I have spent the better part of a month, hovering over my son, eating hospital food and JUNK, not working out. I was just commenting to a friend earlier this week that I feel like a TROLL. And the bathing suits. They're everywhere. I live in Washington state, where we have just celebrated (?!) 28 days in a row of non-stop rain. And. There. Are. Bathing. Suits. Everywhere. In fact, seeing all the bathing suits, sent me straight into the Bali outlet, and I actually looked at smoothing undergarments for the first time in my life. I wondered if I could wear them under my track pants.
ha!! yeah, make us feel grosser than we already do---I know! Bathing suits. However, I have to say, it is a bit motivating. Thinking that maybe it'd be nice to actually want to BUY a bathing suit this year. Possibly?
I'm actually glad they give us a lot of lead time for selection. I'll need it this year since I've decided to go with a thong this summer and I want it to look just right. (I hope no one was eating as they read this).
as nick says, the retailers really mess with us. when it's over 100 here, i *do not* want to try on wool coats/suits and sweaters. i also don't want the summer stuff when it's freezing (in particular bathing suits -- well, i may *never* want to see them...).
unca, it's a good thing i wasn't eating -- too funny! should i try to picture it?
i depise bathing suits even in the summer, so really, nothing has changed for me. no matter how great of shape i am in, i will always be too pasty white to put one on without comments like "get a tan, whitey!" so every summer i get a spray tan thinking that it just may work this time and it always just makes me look like i haven't bathed in awhile.
yes!! Someone else who avoids bathing suits. Just like you, even if I's in great shape, the glare would knock people over. And the spray tan thing is all well and good except that there's no guarantee against a streak here or there. Sigh. I'm glad Nicole Kidman made white "in" but I suspect a person might have to look like her to get away with it. And Crystal, you're planets closer than I am!
We can buy bathing suits in Winter, down in the land of Oz. What I think is weird, is that for the past 2 weeks we can already buy Easter Buns in the supermarket ... easter is not until April !! That's so wrong.
Just bought sandals for my flip-flop loving toddler today. And yes, I do think we have a few more days of winter in store for us. I've sold out. No swimsuit for me though. Ever. Never. Ad infinitum.
well, h-f, it's a term I've heard and so I thought I'd throw it out there and act educated. I'm glad I'm not the only one in the dark. Maybe someone can clue us in....
and left coast, I might be with you there on the bathing suit issue. The only people who might ever see me in one again will be my immediate family. There's not much they can do but keep me around regardless....

Yes, it just shows how great minds think alike when they also have such great bodies!

Easter???? Good grief. And what exactly is an Easter Bun? Is that like a stuffed Easter bunny? Or is it a food? Something sweet perhaps? :)

what is this "being in great shape" concept you are talking about?
